Three of my newer pieces, all oil landscapes, are on exhibit at the Newington Art League Show in the Newington Town Hall in Newington, CT. This show will run from April 11 until May 12, 2017. The show is for members of the league and was judged by local artist and illustrator Bob Noreika.
I recently came across this lovely photo of a garden shed. I was taken with the little scene of the pink and white flowers contrasted against the deep shade created by the trees behind them and inspired to paint it. The little window with its red paint and the open door on the shed just made it that much more interesting.
On a drive along a river I was struck by the cool tranquility of this scene. It was a hot summer day and I found the cool shade under the tree with the ice blue water and shimmering reflections of the trees inspiring. I stopped to take a number of photos and once back in my studio, painted the scene in oil.
